Homely and Unhomely (2013)
Surrealistic images never ceased to fascinate me, not only because of their dream-like quality, but also because they provoke indescribable yet profound emotions in out subconsciousness. Surrealistic images are uncanny, they are homely and unhomely, they are weird yet familiar, distancing but close.
These images are constructed through the juxtaposition of daily objects and carefully selected props. Each image has a hidden message, a metaphor or a visual contradiction. However, these images are open to free interpretation. Ultimately, I would like to create images that speak to the subconsciousness of humanity, just as fellow precedent surrealists, such as Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Man Ray and Chema Madoz.
